(Reply here, ja?)
It felt like years since that day.
Ted had been loping down the city's alleys, trying to find somewhere to stay. All the humans had rejected him- he wasn't exactly the cutest pup in the litter. Everywhere he turned he saw hands raised, polls erect and fearful faces. Not one human- man, woman or child showed him an ounce of love. He whined and looked up to the dusky sky above. All he wanted was his warm bed, his kibble, and his Girl..
Ted slowed to a stop, and raised his maw to the crisp night air. He took in a deep breath and held. He could sense a park not far off. Perhaps no one would be there this time of night. He opened his muzzle and lolled out his tongue. He started again, this time with a bit more of a fast pace. He eventually reached his destination.
Ted lowered his tail, his ears flattened against his head. His eyes scanned the area- so far nothing was to be seen. When he was certain it was safe, he loped over to a small pond. He took as many laps as his belly could hold, then trotted to a small pile of kibble.
Between mouthfuls he raised his head to make sure none of those humans with the long rods and nooses were near. He was not going to go back to the shelter, never again.
